No one likes a dried out, ugly cake. One that is not covered will certainly dry out or the ants will get to it.
No one really knows when the cake storage container came to be but many are sure glad it did. To take a cake
somewhere can be a daunting task if you do not have a cake storage container. That cake could end up in a big gooey
mess on the floor of your vehicle. Not a pretty sight and your cake is ruined. As there are different sizes of
cakes, there are different sizes of cake storage containers.
Cake storage container can be used for a one layer cake. They come round or square, depending on what your cake
is. Most coffee cakes will fit nicely in them. The come with a lid that will protect your cake. A lot of cake
bakers will tell you not to buy a plastic cake storage container. The plastic takes on the smell of the cake and
vise versa. No one wants to eat cake that tastes like plastic. Use either glass or china ones.
If toting a cake to a picnic use a metal or stainless steel cake storage container. They will not break, no
after taste from the metal or the stainless steel. These are very easy to clean as they can be put in the
dishwasher. If you are baking a real fancy cake, try putting on a crystal cake plate. They do come with a lid and
look pretty sitting on the counter. Many people will use cardboard boxes for a cake storage container. Although
they are not as durable as one made of glass or stainless steel, they will do in a pinch.
There are air tight cake storage containers that will keep the cake moist a bit longer than a regular cake
container. Some have a rubber seal around the edge of either the plate itself or the dome. Some are oblong or
square. And as with any cake storage container they too have a handle for easy carrying. Some even have a locking
lid that once you put the lid on it, there are two handles that are pulled down to lock the lid in place.
Many brides want to keep the top of their wedding cake. To do so you must freeze it. Just take off the flowers
and what not’s and wrap it loosely in plastic wrap and put it in the freezer, once it is harden, take it out and
wrap it in foil. Then you can put into a cake storage container that has a good seal on it and put it back into the
freezer. Stick it in the back and a year later pull it out. It will taste as good as the day of your wedding.
There are just so many different types and sizes of cake storage containers. Find the one that you will like and
is a good fit for your cake making. Many people have more than one, so they can store their cakes or take them
somewhere. People will also store cookies and cupcakes in them.
